NOT LETTING UP: Chris Penney in action for Tarrawingee against Milawa on Sunday. PHOTO: Cam Potter
THE time for acknowledgement has arrived at the Kennel.
Tarrawingee’s systematic shutdown of Milawa on Sunday was further evidence that the Bulldogs are more than just a contender for the Ovens and King Football League premiership – they may have just earned favouritism.
I’ll be the first to admit I underrated Tarrawingee heading into this season.
After they finished fifth on the ladder last year I marked them down for the same position in 2016, based on the assumption that their recruiting hadn’t been strong enough to bridge the gap to Glenrowan, Milawa, Bright and Bonnie Doon.
I thought Bright would give the Bulldogs a touch up in round one.
I was wrong.
