THE hoodoo has been broken – better yet, shattered.
Bonnie Doon’s disastrous record against Milawa was turned on its head on Saturday, as the Bombers exorcised their Demons with a stunning 80-point win at home.
Coming into the game, Bonnie Doon had lost all 10 of its previous encounters with Milawa by an average margin of 128 points.
But the Bombers made a mockery of that statistic with a completely dominant performance that cast them head first into premiership calculations.
Jess Cosaitis continued his remarkable rise with nine goals as the Demons scrambled to find an effective match-up, eventually going with co-coach John Conroy, playing his first game of the season.
Cosaitis was the key for Bonnie Doon early on, proving unstoppable in the first quarter as he marked everything that came his way and booted five goals to see the Bombers go into the huddle 44 points up on the shell shocked Demons.
Milawa went into the game with some depth concerns, with the injury list starting to become a problem.
Ben Clarke faces a long spell on the sidelines with a foot fracture, while the Demons were also forced to make do without Jordan Baker-Swain, Cal Honey, Xavier Ham, Alex Dunstan and Simon Pane.
Ryan Hussey is done for the year with a ruptured ACL, while Brendan Gamze and Andrew Hamilton are yet to pull on the boots this season.
