TOM Buckley has shot to the top of the Ovens and King Football League’s goal kicking table after bagging 14 majors against North Wangaratta at the WJ Findlay Oval on Saturday.
Buckley has filled his boots against the league’s cellar dwellers over the past three weeks, with hauls of 12 against Greta, 10 against Benalla and now 14 against the Hawks giving him 36 goals from three games.
That has seen the straight-shooting spearhead take his overall tally to 63 goals from nine matches to move ahead of Tarrawingee’s Kyle Raven (62).
Buckley’s figure is all the more impressive given he has spent time in the midfield, playing the entire game against Milawa on the ball and going goalless in that match.
On the whole, Bright, as expected, was far too strong for North Wangaratta, winning the game by 169 points to hold onto sixth spot on the ladder on percentage from King Valley.
Brendan Jenvey, Ben Henwood and Nick Lebish were other key contributers for the Mountain Men, while Daryl Webb, Jamie Berry and Darryn White flew the flag for the Hawks.
