BRIGHT’S tough battle to secure a finals berth is set to become even harder, with midfield star Ben Bond facing another stint on the sidelines.
Bond was yesterday awaiting an assessment on his injured left ankle after being hurt in the opening moments of Saturday’s loss at Tarrawingee.
The 2015 Baker medallist landed awkwardly after a marking attempt before an opponent fell across his leg in the first minute of the game.
While he is hopeful the ligaments are stretched, rather than ruptured, Bond expects to miss at least a fortnight.
“It’s pretty sore at the moment,” Bond said.
“When it happened I thought I’d tweaked my knee as well, but it was just the ankle.
“It felt unstable right away so I wasn’t able to get back on the ground, which was frustrating.
“I haven’t had it fully assessed yet, but I’m hoping it’s just some stretched ligaments and that I can take a couple of weeks off and get it right.”
