MOYHU is now the only team outside the top six with any chance of playing finals in 2016, after overcoming Bright by 24 points on Saturday.
The Mountain Men were depleted as injury and unavailability to key players saw an under strength team take to the field, but their resolve shone through as Bright pushed Moyhu for much of the day.
The Hoppers were down by two points at quarter time, with the Mountain Men recording eight scoring shots for three goals as the Moyhu pressure and slippery conditions took their toll.
The Hoppers hit their straps in the second quarter in both their offensive and defensive sides of their game, keeping Bright to just one point for the quarter, but booting a wasteful 2.8 while threatening to blow the game open.
The Hoppers led 5.11 (41) to 3.6 (24) at the long break, but their wasteful kicking came back to haunt them in the third quarter as the Mountain Men were able to find another gear, booting 2.4 to 1.1 and clawing their way back to within eight points at three quarter time.
It was all Moyhu in the last term, however.
