JUST like the A grade, King Valley’s B grade team captured its second straight premiership, defeating Greta 48-28 in a dominating display of netball.
It wasn’t all King Valley’s way as Greta was hot on the heels of the Roos from the opening centre pass.
The Blues’ pressure, intensity and efficiency in the first term was equal to that of the Roos and with goal keeper Melissa Way and Valley shooter Grace Patterson engaged in a thrilling battle, Greta was down by just two goals at quarter time.
From then on, the Roos used their experience to extend their lead in each of the quarters and run away with the 2016 Ovens and King B grade premiership.
The second quarter started well for the Blues, with Allyson Naish nailing one of her 18 goals for the match, but King Valley led by Grace Patterson would roll on to score five unanswered goals to stamp its authority on their game.
The Roos’ pressure forced errant Greta passes and key turnovers which further extended their stranglehold on the match, pushing their halftime lead out to 12 goals.
