Under 14's - Last Saturday's Under 14's game was another test against one of the better teams and again whilst well beaten on the scoreboard the boys played some good patches of footy and worked really hard on their pressure for 3 quarters before their bigger opponents took control. We need to keep remembering that we are playing some good footy and if we continue to work hard on the track the results will come.
Under 17's -A good consistent team effort today from the boys. Cam and Jesse had a great game in the centre. Dalton and Dylan were also solid in defence. Congratulations to Connor Paganoni and Toby Saunders on playing their 100th club game last week against Strathmertnon.
Reserves -Another six changes this week meant the reserves were severely undermanned, particularly with respect to midfielders.
Strathy were the better team right from the start and we were a little flat prior to the game and it definitely showed. Our midfielders battled hard against a competent opposition and our defence held up against constant forward fifty entries from our opponents.
The positives were the boys never threw in the towel and they battled right to the end. We must improve our basics to be competitive with the teams at the top and we will work hard to achieve these at training. This week sees us at home against Mathoura. Congratulations to Peter Brentnall on playing his 100th club game today against Mathoura.
Seniors -Last week the Bloods headed to Strathy to face the reigning premiers in an important game for their season. Strathy won the toss and elected to go with the wind. the home team came out of the blocks early making easy work of the Bloods in the first quarter. Strathy were able to pile on 7 goals whereas the Bloods could only get 1 major on the board. The boys had to regroup at quarter time. The second quarter saw a more even game of football. Strathy outscored Toc by 1 goal, David Trotman and Ollie Rennie were key players for the Bloods across the half back line and through the middle. In the second half the Bloods shown, in patches, how good they can play. Dylan Flanagan was moved into the middle to provide some drive forward and Jarrod Kelly was solid over the football. The home side were able to blow the game away in the last term kicking consecutive goals.
