NETBALL - With windy conditions confronting both teams at Moama - our girls worked very hard to record a well deserved 12 goal win against Congupna.
We took the court with blustery north/west wind. Congupna got off to a good start but our strong defenders - Leah and Lynsey defended tightly and rebounded strongly to turn the ball over.
At one stage early in their game - Toc trailed by 5 goals. With determination and team work they prevailed.
Youngy and Katrina managed the circle well and shot true despite the blustery conditions. Turnovers from Lauren saw KG bring the ball dwon convincingly and Abby was feeding the ball with precision.
Our game was a strong team effort. Kristy was directing play and winning the ball from being in front. Abby stepped up to play a clean, concentrated game and showed her persistence and determination to win the ball. Marlee took to the court and gave a real bite in defence offering strong leads and playing with maturity and composure.
All in all a great team effort saw the girls defeat a strong opponent to move into today's match Preliminary Final.
Thank you to all those supporters who travelled to give their much appreciated support, the girls love that support and respond so well to it. Hope to see everyone at today's match to spur them on.
Excellent games by Abby Tyndall, Lynsey Cook and Lizzy Young.
Overall - a great effort - very best wishes today from all at the club.
"You Go Girls!!"
SENIORS - On behalf of the Tocumwal Football Netball Club - we must thank Mulwala for the use of their ground - the previous Saturday for a training run and also their hospitality after our 2nd Semi. Well done.
The seniors came to play in the 2nd semi. You could tell they were switched on with a good start out of the blocks - Barooga had to chase. This was the case throughout the full four quarters.
Another great captain's game - well supported by the likes of Sean Logie - especially the first half, Ben Phelan, Matt Robertson, Michael Hare and "The Young" Anthony Mellington.
Overall it was a good team result for the club. With the week off I'm sure we'll prepare ourselves in a professional manner.
Our match committee has the hard task now to select the right combination.
Today though - we support the girls in their prelim against Numurkah and we wish them all the very best.
