Wow, the last home and away game and what a season it has been for the Tocumwal FNC. Last game we hosted our friendly neighbours, Yarroweyah. With 3 wins out of 4 for the football and 5 out of 6 for the netball, it was a successful day out for The Bloods. With the season now wound up, all focus is on our teams playing in the finals. Footy wise it will be great to see our 3rds and seniors play finals for the first time in many years. Our netballers will be represented by the Under 13's, U15's and A Grade. It is great to see a good mixture of youth and seniors in both areas. As a club let's make sure we get along and support these teams and fly the Tocumwal flag. Congratulations to Scott Baldwin on playing his 350th senior game today and also his nephew Drew Eddy playing his 50th U/14's game. With the major raffle and family fun day running tomorrow, it is a great day for the club to come together as one. This year Nigel the Nutcracker has been put out to spell and his prized bull in Norman the Nutcracker will make his debut out on the Tocumwal arena. What is set to be a big day kicks off at midday and runs into the arvo. Question is Can Oussa defend his 2013 title? The Sheriff has set the challenge early, but Eli could be the dark horse, while I wouldn't be writing off the quiet Micky O. 500-1 chance is the big man Dizz and Lug in at 1000-1. Don't miss it!!! Everyone welcome!!
SENIORS -
The boys had a sluggish start and were a little unsettled for a start. Once things settle and we got things together it was game on and we showed that we can play footy! The boys in the middle worked hard to get the centre clearances and give us first use. With plenty of rotations it gave the boys a chance to keep the legs fresh and keep up plenty of run all day. Kirch pleaded with the boys to keep focused and that we had a job to do by keeping up a good standard of football. The Sheriff came out to play in the second half and didn't drop a mark finishing off with 5 of the best. Dizz displayed some class pulling in some great marks and also finishing off with 5 sausage rolls. Big Ouss has found some late season form and Dave left his trademark on the game. Overall the boys have stuck together well throughout the season and look forward to the task ahead.
MIDDAY SHOW - The restraints were broken, the veteran couldn't help himself .... Welcome back Big Bad Bustling Bobby Bourke! And what form he was in! STOP STOP STOP ..... Everyone take a minute to have a look at this bloke.... he bleeds red and white and bleeds footy! With a heart the size of good old Pharlap this bloke is an absolute legend! To come out and pull the boots on with the boys and show them how it's done, everyone should take their hats off to this bloke! I can't believe that he made it this far into the season without playing, but couldn't restrain himself any more. What will today bring? Also thanks to Batea who steered the ship. Another bloke that loves his footy and if everyone had the passion that these blokes had it would be dangerous!! We could achieve great things.
UNDER 17's - We got away with a win considering we only played one solid quarter of footy and that was the second quarter. Kaleb's attack on the ball was fantastic and the ability to run and carry was first rate. Ethan's great effort down forward to kick five and Liam was solid in defence. Troy and Jarrod's performances were solid again. Disappointing to lose Jordan to injury again and thanks to the Famous Five who performed well above their age.
UNDER 14's - The game was by far their best four quarter effort for the year so far. The boys' discipline and applied pressure for the whole game enabled them to play some fantastic footy with everyone playing their part and contributing when in their area. Jess Barker was in everything, playing a great leaders game, Jess Eddy's hunger for the ball and pushing to the contest was outstanding while Jared Diwell's presenting, marking and forward pressure was his best effort for the year. Tyrone S and Will H were excellent and set the standard early when the heat was on, Daniel R again showed he's developing into a very good player while Tommy B and Baylee M were both good, finishing with a couple of goals each. Let's apply the same hunger today and finish the season on a high.
QUOTE OF THE DAY - "You don't always get what you wish for, you get what you work for."
