Wow what a weekend for the Tocumwal Football Netball Club. We had a big day for the footy, a huge crowd and plenty of supporters and visitors; it was good to see and then another huge day catering at the Tocumwal Races on Easter Saturday. Well done to everyone involved to make last weekend a success.
The day started nice and early with the Under 14's kicking the dew off the grass. Under 14's are finally on the board with 3 goals and a couple of points kicked on the day. Well done! See how it all comes together when we get the ball out of the centre with a few quick passes from the forward line. The centre battled well all day and we had a few good spells in the forward line. Once again our back line was under a lot of pressure, we have got to make sure we man up and encourage one another. Although the score line was up there we did pressure well but a few more options in the kick outs would be good. Well done to Congupna who played well with a good running game and managed to create a few loose players up front. Hopefully we will have a full side this week against Moama, so let's all train hard with a positive attitude. Congratulations to Billy Andrew who plays his 50th fourths game for the club today.
Congratulations to Jeremy and his boys on a great win in the Under 17's. It was a well earnt victory. The boys started off really well with the ball and had a good lead at quarter time. The forward line was very strong. The second quarter started well with the boys with the must win attitude. The voice and handballs during this quarter was very good. In the third quarter Toc was teaming up well to kick goals and the marking was strong. They continued playing the fourth quarter just as well to come out on top with a great win.
The Reserves side started the day missing some of our regulars. A few were missing with injury, so some ex-footballers of the club put their hands up to help the club for the day. Thank you to Jeremy Crow, Peter Absolom, Sean McAuliffe and Paul Quick. It was great to see some familiar faces back at the club. We started off a bit slow in the first quarter but with a good second quarter we took the lead and went into half time being 4 points in front. Unfortunately we ran out of legs in the second half to go down. We fought hard in the last quarter but could not reduce the margin.
Well what can we say about the Seniors two on the trot and looking good. We had a good first quarter with plenty of the play, we started off slow in the second quarter but finished off well. Our use of the ball in the third quarter wasn't the best but went on and finished the game with a great win. Keep working hard with our fitness and who knows what will happen, we could have a successful year.
Today we play Moama, good luck to all our football and netball teams, let's come home with a few wins under our belts.
