Tonight after the game we will be heading back to Kelly's Pub for the awards, let's make an effort and get as many as possible back to support our sponsors.
As we have new red and white playing jumpers this year, we have been selling the old ones off. If any players or supporters would like to purchase an old playing jumper please see Deb at the office. They are selling like hot cakes for a measly price of $10 each. They are great for the boys to train in or our supporters to wear hopefully come finals time to show your support to the club.
We understand that 4ths super coach Bob Bourke was hauled before the committee this week to explain the defeat against Jerilderie last week. The official club press release issued later expressed the committees full confidence in Bob - and we all know what that means. President Jeremy denied that any contract extension for Bob was discussed.
In further developments Oliver Rennie was disgusted that his favourite headband "disappeared" from the change rooms, whilst Thommo denied any responsibility (who can forget the scoreboard numbers issue), Jacob Hore was seen wearing a similar headband later that night. The mystery continues.
Under 14's - The old saying "it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game" was never more true for the Toc junior Bloods last week. While up against a bigger, well drilled team our boys had an almighty crack from start to finish and the scoreboard was not reflective of the effort they put in. We knew we were going to come up against the better teams and at least now we know the importance of working hard so as to mix it with them as the season progresses.
Under 17's - Thanks to the Under 14 boys Tom Barker and Decklin Smithers. The boys had a great game this week. Congratulations to Jesse Barker on his first senior game against Jerilderie.
Reserves - After last week's poor showing, they were determined to put up a better effort. Starting with a two goal breeze we had the majority of the play in the 1st quarter but could not put our dominance on the scoreboard, leading by nine points at the first break. Into the slight breeze in the second quarter Jerilderie came at us to try and arrest our dominance but we ran up a solid 36 point lead at half time. The second half provided as good a team effort as we have seen this year, delivering great pressure as we earned a wonderful 89 point win. The match was highlighted by Ken Chellew playing with his son Josh in a rarely seen event of father and son playing together.
Seniors - Last week we hosted Jerilderie in a must win game for the Bloods. A disappointing second half the week before against Picola was still ripe in the Bloods boys' memory. They came out firing, booting 6 goals to nothing in the first quarter. The second quarter saw more of the same thing. The Jerilderie boys received a rev up at half time and came out in the third quarter and were competitive. Toc's backline was strong with its president Jeremy Cardillo rebounding the ball well. Veteran Greg Whelan was able to get himself forward and slot 3 goals for his efforts.
