Today for something different our Under 14 footballers will be playing straight after the Seniors finish on the main oval. Please stick around and show these little warriors on both sides some support. These guys are always kicking the dew off the grass on Saturday mornings and never get to play in front of a great crowd. So stay around and cheer these future champions on.
Under 14's - The Young Bloods played well last week with the small boys playing well to get the hard balls from under the packs. Good work in the centre with Billy and Kaleb working hard in a fast game. It's off to Barooga this week where we will be playing after the seniors on the big oval. So let's go Young Bloods and put that first win on the board.
Under 17's - The game started when both teams had to start with 17 players per side. The boys in the backline played well. Well done to Orien who played really well for only his second game of football. Thanks go to Echuca United for lending some players and also thanks to the fourths that stepped up once again. Keep your chins up your doing a great job.
Reserves - The Ressies welcomed back Cheech and Brenno Shannon back from the ones to play against a good United side who showed their class early. Skinny and Timmy continued with their good form with support from Jack Bunnett, Cheech and Jordy. The boys evened up general play after quarter time but struggled to post a score. Skinny copped a heavy knock, Timmy, Cheech and the 2 Jacks all battled hard but United were too slick.
Seniors - The Bloods were keen to put last week's game behind them and got away well with Johnny again in and under and being rewarded with our first goal, Loges and Timmy also prominent early. Balraj and Crawf finished the quarter with goals to provide a small buffer at quarter time. Balraj into the ruck to give K-Train a break proved a good option with Balraj enjoying a bit of the ball, with Rhys and Timmy being good options up forward. Toc had plenty of the play early in the quarter but allowed United to get three goals back. Gibbsy scored one late but at half time it was game on. Balraj, Coach Nathan, Rhys, Crawf and Chappy all scored early in the third. TWG popped up with his fourth however United again scored goals late in the quarter and brought that form to start the last with two quick goals. TWG scored his fifth, Chapman his second but United kept coming at us bouncing back with three goals before Johnny scored his second to see the Bloods home.
Congratulations to Skinny McCormack who plays his 50th Reserves match for the Red and Whites today, it's been a long time coming but you finally got there. Well done!
Don't forget to stick around after the Seniors to watch The Young Bloods strut their stuff in front of a crowd.
Thanks to everyone who attended our poker night last Saturday night, it was a great casual night enjoyed by all.
Good luck to all teams today and hope we can come home with the goods.
