We put a welcome out to the Berrigan Saints and to all our supporters, members and visitors to what is the start of a very big weekend for the Tocumwal Football Netball Club.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend we are always looking for helpers. Today if you can put your hand up for something, this would help us out immensely. Tomorrow we need to man the gates for the Tocumwal Races and then on Sunday we are manning the bar at the Tocumwal Rodeo. All hands make light work.
Congratulations to Jordan Haynes on reaching 50 senior games against Deni Rovers last week. Well done Jordy, plenty more to come from you.
The Toc U/14's came up against last years premiers not knowing what to expect but to their credit got straight into the thick of it and held on for a well deserved 1 point victory after leading all game in a great four quarter effort.
The boys discipline and applied pressure for the whole game enabled them to play some fantastic footy with everyone playing their part and contributing when in their area.
Taz Smithers was in everything, playing a great captains game giving us an indication that he's in for a massive year. Tommy B's hunger for the ball and pushing to the contest was outstanding while Baylee Morton made the most of his opportunities to finish with three classy goals, Drew, Aden and Cody Gow were excellent and set the standard early when the heat was on, while the effort of the little fella's lead by Blair, Chase and Hayden completed a very positive start to the year. Let's apply the same hunger today against the junior Saints and see how we go.
On a hot day our U/17's only started with 11 players. They all tried hard all game. Tayte and Peter worked well in the middle with Jay running all day and Tyler played well in his first game of football. Keep your chin up boys, it's easy to walk away and not be bothered with it, but the club are extremely proud with all your efforts. Stick with it, the rewards will come.
In the midday show the boys worked hard all game. Bob Bourke stepped up and kicked the 3 goals for the match. Nathan O'Connell, Glyn Matters and Luke Fuller brought it together in the centre to play a great game of footy.
Tonight we have the Liberty Bombers playing upstairs after the game. Come up listen to the band, see who gets the awards and most of all have a cool beveridge whilst we all reflect on the day.
Good luck to all our teams today. Give it your best shot.
We have club shirts available upstairs, we will also be doing another order for warm up tops, bags and compression pants. This will be our final order for the season - orders close on 11th April, so get in now and catch up with Carl Cummins to make that order.
