Official Match Report
This was one sided from the opening bounce with the Diorites destroying the Roos by 99 points, the blue and whites had good players a plenty and can look forward to considering ruckman Luke Nugent and young gun Cale Delbridge in the Preliminary Final. Kalgoorlie were uncompetitive and found scoring near impossible with Ashley Wedding unable to get near it and when they did display some pluck, Rhys O’Loughlin suffered a serious collarbone injury. The night was all about the Diorites who now have Boulder nervous before the Prelim, and the same will go for Railways should they make the Grand Final. Nathan Mourish who has spent a long time away from league footy was very impressive in defence, while the usual ball magnets in Trent Moon, Russell Walton, Cameron Allen and Chris Brabazon all feasted on many opportunities and some of the lesser lights like Taylor Auvache, Keiron Giblett and Marc Johnstone all shone under the Digger Daws lights. Steve Dewar was also very good, Grae Grant with three goals, and Jamie Bolt with a game high four, while Ben Basley provided the game highlight with a soccer kick from mid air which duly saluted for two flags from the goal umpire, with Mark McQueen brilliant in the ruck.
