Official Match Report
Back to back derby joy for the Tigers in another 2010 Houdini act led by 3 last quarter goals by Justin Langridge, to assist the Tigers wipe away the last change deficit to record an impressive 10 point victory. The Tigers remain unbeaten, while the Diorites only two losses for this season have both been at the hands of their arch rivals. Darren Bradshaw bagged 6 goals to collect 21 season majors, while Ben Andrews continues to play good footy for the Tigers. The Diorites will be surprised and angered by their last quarter as they have basically played some perfect footy since Round 1, and a final quarter of 1.1 is very un-diorite like. Rob Hansen was amongst the goalscorers again to take his season tally to 17, whilst half back Keiron Giblett was best afield for the blue and whites.
Team Match Report
A win over traditional rivals Mines, was built on character and hard work after being four goals down at three quarter time. We relaxed our pressure in the third quarter to let Mines back into the game, though to the players' credit they responded after the break to kick six goals and record a terrific victory. It’s been a long time since a Boulder side has produced the quality and intensity that we did in the last quarter and the player group should be proud of their effort, as too should our supporters.
Ben Andrews produced his best game for 2010, with hard running and superb use of the ball, as did Justin Langridge whose three goal last term was instrumental in the result going our way. Darren Bradshaw made the most of his opportunities to bag six goals for the night.
Our backline continues to be our most consistent line and although early in the game they made some skill errors, as the game wore on they settled down and not only defended, but gave us drive forward to create opportunities further up the ground. Small forwards Cruden Munroe and Steve Waddington are adapting to our game plan each week and Luke Williams had his best game in the seniors.
Although I’m pleased with our unbeaten start to the season, it’s clear that the competition this year will be a tight affair, so the players cannot afford to relax or lose focus on the long haul of 2010. The other clubs are snapping at our heels, so we need to be at our best each week to continue to have positive results. We have a bye this week, but it will be a solid week on the training track before turning our attention to Kangas the following week.
