Official Match Report
In bright and warm conditions Sunday, a game without much expectation turned into a delight. Whilst being hosted at Digger Daws you may have been excused for thinking you were in Kambalda. The Eagles supporters were out in force, with all the usual passion and noise and when Kambalda hit the front during the second quarter the atmosphere was infectious. Kambalda have some talent Kristgen Bennett and Mark Leyssenaar showing some promise and presence while Dylan Titchener found plenty of the footy as did Damien Dunlea. A 17 point margin still had the Eagles within touch at three quarter time but then the Diorites hit the injector button with a 10 goal final term, whilst Kambalda not disgraced banged through 5 of their own in a last stanza goal fest. Rob Hansen was back to his silky skilled best but again the thing that will have Diorite fans excited was that they have two wonderful youngsters in Delson Trott and Cale Delbridge who figured highly in the best players while the classy Grae Grant with another 5 goal haul is set for a big year. The victory marked a fine afternoon for Ben Barsanti two goals in his 50th league game, while Brett Pattison was custodian like as always in defence playing his 100th game for the Diorites.
