In a physical encounter, with the wind favouring the beach end, the first half was very even. St Pauls had a size advantage with Hampton handling the gound ball well with both teams tackling fiercely. In the second half, on instruction, the Hampton players directed the ball away from the dead pocket, centering the ball to good effect, whilst steady in defence. In the last quarter St Paul fought valiantly however Hampton prevailed and at times played expansive last quarter football to win convincingly.
