Official Match Report
Returning from the bye for an early starting home game the stars aligned and organised a hot air ballon to land on Ajax oval just before the start of the game to see if that would help the boys get off to a flying start in the first quarter. Pleased to report it did! In a fast paced game Joe Barnes, Sam & Toby got the ball clear of the centre through some great ruck work and smart roving while Monty attacked the ball making a contest every time we went forward. At quarter time the scores were level at 1.2 a piece. In a tightly contested second quarter our speedsters (Euan, Will H, and Xavier) played their roles well and took on the opposition, propelling us forward and by half time we were trailing by just 2 points. Throughout the game Robbie (today's captain) demonstrated his strength and determination as he crashed his way through tackle after tackle, contest after contest. This on field leadership was also a highlight of Will Bainbridge and Charlie Dean's games today. As coach its always pleasing to see boys prepared to try things and today Sam's (right) opposite foot kick deep into our forward line was a highlight.
This week we demonstrated that we play better when we put our head over the ball and are prepared to take on the opposition and run, run, run! Great effort by all of the boys today. Well done and on this effort a win is not far way.
