Team Match Report
Good contribution from all players throughout the game. Played good team football and looked to give the ball to players in better positions. Great team effort.
Team Match Report
The Gold made our way down the Nepean Highway to play Mordi-Brae in our Round 2 clash. The boys were very excited to be presented with their season jumpers followed by a stirring speech from our coach for the day Scott Ward congratulating our captain of the week Jackson C and new player Max A before the boys headed out to play.
The 1st quarter started brilliantly with our youngest and smallest player Charlie C kicking accurately before the ball returned quickly to the forward line with Archer R slotting one through the big sticks. Our on ball team led by Mitch M and Max G from the half back flank kept driving the ball forward before the tall and quick opposition quickly replied with two quick goals to be slightly in front at quarter time.
Tiernan C proved to be a great centre half forward during the 2nd quarter but our defenders were under enormous pressure as the competitors with their clean hands and long kicks were proving hard to match up against. Joe N was hard at it in the back line and was quick with his handballs to his teammates. Nick P and Jesper O were battling hard in the centre as Archer R tackled the tall timber of the opposition in the ruck. At half time the boys all needed a big rest after been run off their feet during the 2nd quarter, the oranges and drinks were well received.
Patrick A started in the ruck for the 3rd quarter and was supported superbly by Fergus C and Emile D. Noah F played a fantastic quarter, his strong play in the packs was inspirational. Jacob S came out in the 2nd half to provide strong resistance in the back line against quality opposition.
Our boys were exhausted during the three quarter time break as the opposition were only getting stronger but the coach inspired them to head out to play their best for the Gold and Bloods. Our back line knew they were playing within seconds as the ball was quickly moving from the centre over and over again. Nick J and Alex K were chasing hard as the forwards did not see too much of the ball, an inspiring quarter by Charlie C and Archer R showed their true Blood spirit!
Congratulations to Mordi-Brae on a fantastic game of football and a superb umpiring performance by the 11yo lad who kept the game moving quickly.
