Official Match Report
After a bye in Round 4 our boys ventured to McKinnon to play St Paul's. In very windy conditions this week's captain (Will B) gave a great rev up to the boys before the game, won the toss and we kicked with the wind in the first quarter. Although Joe won the ruck contests well unfortunately the opposition got the jump on us again and banged on 2 quick goals into the breeze to our 1 in the 1st quarter when we were caught behind their forwards. After quarter time our boys really showed some great Bloods spirit and through hard work and some solid tackling and contesting they kept the opposition goalless with the breeze in the 2nd quarter. In the 3rd quarter we couldn't close the gap which left us trailing at 3 quarter time and StPaul's kicking with the aid of a stiff breeze in the last. Toby & Ben were given specific roles in the last quarter and both did a great job. This was backed up by a great team effort where we tackled, harassed and applied pressure to keep them goalless again with breeze until the last 30 seconds of the game. Charlie Dean lead by example all day and played a fantastic 4 quarter game reading the play brilliantly and working hard. Overall our team showed some great spirit and never gave up and there is no doubt we are continuing to improve. Happy Mother's Day!
