THERE will be no repeat of the 2009-10 Ovens and King Football League grand finals this year, with Tarrawingee and Milawa set to face off in a preliminary final instead.
The Bulldogs earned their passage through to the penultimate weekend of football courtesy of another impressive performance yesterday, defeating Whorouly by 41 points.
It was a victory that looked a long way off early on, with Whorouly dominating the opening stages of the match.
Twenty minutes into the game Tarrawingee had barely got the ball inside its forward 50, with the Lions registering eight of the first nine scoring shots to lead by 22 points.
After missing last week's loss to Moyhu, Richard Leahy was proving his value to Whorouly, taking six marks for the quarter and kicking all of the side's three goals.
But Tarrawingee booted the final two majors of the period to stay in touch and headed into the first break only 10 points down.
Josh Nixon extended Whorouly's buffer back to 15 points early in the second, but that was where the Lions' run was halted.
It was Daniel McCullough and Kyle Simpson who got the Bulldogs firing through the middle, with both setting up goals for Daniel Barassi before Aaron Vihm put Tarrawingee in front at the 20 minute mark.
