WHOROULY and Greta have created a re-match of the 2010 Ovens and King A grade grand final after both cruised to easy preliminary final victories on the weekend.
The Lions proved too strong for Moyhu to win by 17 goals on Saturday while Greta ended Goorambat's run with a 20-goal victory on Sunday.
After defeating Milawa in a shock qualifying final result, the Hoppers couldn't rediscover that form as the Lions raced out to a 10-goal lead by the main break.
Whorouly's dominance continued after halftime with a 12-4 third quarter before the Hoppers added some respectability in the final quarter with the final score 47-30 in the Lions' favor.
Whorouly coach Kelly Jackson was delighted with the outcome of the match, although she was surprised.
"I didn't think it would be by as big a margin as that," she said.
"The last time we played them it was only five goals the difference.
"But it was a good game for our girls."
Jackson admitted to being quietly confident of getting the right result on Saturday but knew the Hoppers would take some beating after they defeated minor premier Milawa a fortnight earlier.
"You have to be to a degree but not too much because it was close last time," she said.
"It was also a little while ago that we played them and I thought they were really an improved side.
"Moyhu started a little bit slow but seemed to be getting better and better.
"Up until the weekend Moyhu and Goorambat were still chances."
With the Lions extending the margin at every change except the last one, Jackson believed it was close to a perfect four-quarter effort from her charges.
"I think so," she said.
"There might have been one little lapse in the second or third quarter but I can't remember.
"We were still 10 goals up but we let them get about five in a row.
"But it wasn't a quarter lapse it was just a couple of minutes."
Kerry Newton starred with 39 goals, Kristy Newton shone through the mid-court while Nat Marek-Rhodes was also on fire, however, Jackson said it was a tough job to select the best players.
"It was hard to pick," she said.
"Everyone did their job and as I explained to them it was hard to choose best players when everyone was doing well.
"There could have been a couple of different players in there.
"Kerry was consistent with her goals, Kristy was reliable as always but I thought our defensive effort right across the court was great."
Meanwhile, Greta continued its unbeaten run to the final by pushing the Bats aside with Michelle Gaston, Ainslee Bennett and Lindsey Tanner starring.
The Blues led by just six goals at the main change but a brilliant third term saw them push the margin out to 16 at the final break before cruising home to win 50-30.
