TARRAWINGEE denied Milawa any premiership success in the Ovens and King's netball ranks, knocking off the Demons in both the C grade and B reserve grand finals on Saturday.
The two matches were practically carbon copies of one another, with each going into overtime after scores were tied at the final whistle.
The C grade match saw the Bulldogs sneak home with a 58-56 victory, with player of the match Georgina Waite, Chelsea Larkings and Kaylee Seymour (37 goals) the stars.
But it wasn't easy for Tarrawingee, with Maggie Bromley, Cassie Bakker and Grace Hourigan starring as Milawa got out to a five-goal lead midway through the final period.
"The girls just kept plugging away," Tarrawingee coach Louise McKenzie said.
"When they got it back to even they suddenly realised they could win it, and that gave them confidence going into extra time."
Then in the B reserve match Tarrawingee triumphed 53-50.
Jade Penney, Amy Jones and Nikki Ottrey led the way for the Bulldogs, while Kelly McMonigle (29 goals) and Vanessa Everitt (24 goals) shared the load in attack.
Coach Mandy Nelson said her defence had been the key to victory.
"I think the maximum difference all day was three goals," Nelson said.
"I don't think I had any nails left by the end of the match.
"The girls just never gave up.
"I have to pay credit to the defenders, because they did a wonderful job.
"Jade Penney was player of the match, and Amy Jones was the other one, and they were backed up by Caitlyn Ravida and Vanessa Everitt.
"And credit to Milawa as well - they just kept at us.
"It was just a great game of netball between two very strong teams.
