The day arrived and I must admit I woke up feeling confident, knowing if the boys arrived ready to go we could really pressure Whorouly all the way.
Our first 15 mintues was lacking intensity and hunger as Whorouly really attacked and managed the first two goals.
If it wasn't for their inaccurate kicking the score line could have been much worse, but to the guys' credit we managed two late goals in the first quarter to reduce the margin to a few points at the first change.
The next two quarters were just unbelievable and right from the first bounce the guys really dug deep and started to play the football I know we were capable of.
Our back line was fantastic all day and their efforts helped set up what looked to be a win.
Credit to Whorouly in the first five minutes of the last quarter as they kicked the first three goals to get within reach, and I knew we were going to have to fight tooth and nail if we were to hold on.
We managed a couple of goals, which seemed to stop the momentum Whorouly had built, and in the end it was enough to secure a preliminary final berth against Milawa.
Again a lot of praise has to go to our back line, along with Chopper (Daniel McCullough) and Jimbo (Jamie Bell) for their tireless efforts all day.
Whorouly have a very potent forward line and these guys really stood up when we needed them.
Great relief but now we need to shift our concentration to next week against Milawa because again we have a massive challenge ahead of us and one I'm really looking forward to.
