GRETA has finally confirmed the worst-kept secret in the Ovens and King Football League with coach Daniel McLaughlin revealing ex-Milawa premiership player Anthony McGuire as one of five new recruits.
It has been rumored for months now that McGuire was on the verge of switching to the Blues, however, it is now official.
McGuire will join Scott Glover and Matt Lacey as new Blues while Steve Brooks and Dale Nevin are returning to the club after stints with other clubs.
While McGuire is the most high profile of the new faces, McLaughlin said the Blues weren't expecting an instant impact from their new star after he carried a serious foot injury through most of 2011.
"Anthony has fully committed but he is really in recovery mode at this stage," he said.
"He carried a foot injury for most of last year and he had a ligament removed so there is definite scarring there.
"But he'll give us everything he has we'll give him a run in the practice matches and see how he pulls up, but we won't rush him.
"He'll bring plenty of experience to us and have an impact in the midfield and up forward."
Glover's commitment to the Blues came through his cousin Mitch playing at the club and McLaughlin was excited about the prospect of having him play a key position this year.
"He'll play somewhere along the spine and could chip in in the ruck at some point," he said.
