WANGARATTA boundary umpire Lachlan Alexander has high hopes of one day officiating in an AFL game after being selected in the 2012 VFL senior umpiring squad.
Alexander was part of the VFL development squad last season and mixed his time between VFL reserves, TAC Cup and Ovens and Murray matches.
But this year he will be a consistent VFL senior umpire and ran the boundary in his first senior match in the VFL's opening round last week.
The youngster, 21, said he was happy to make the squad and was already looking towards higher honors.
"I'm rapt to be in it," he said.
"The coaches looked at me through the pre-season and all the fitness testing and were happy with me.
