GRETA somewhat made up for the pain of last year's grand final defeat by cruising past Moyhu by 25 goals on Good Friday.
The Blues looked sharp right from the first whistle while the Hoppers suffered an injury blow early with defender Kim Saunders suffering a knee injury.
Greta opened up a seven-goal lead at the first change but the Hoppers weren't about to let the lead extend and kept the pressure on in the second term.
But in what could be an ominous sign for opposition sides, the Blues hit their stride in the third term.
With defenders Rebecca Duryea and Allyson Naish staying strong, the Blues allowed the Hoppers just two goals for the period while piling on 14 of their own.
Suddenly a seven-goal lead had turned into 19 and the game was as good as over.
The Blues continued to run the match out as the final result saw them win 47-22.
Perri McCarthy was superb for the Blues while Steph Hogan and Jenna McLeod worked hard for the Hoppers.
Reigning premier Whorouly might have lost some star power, however, it mattered little on Saturday as it comfortably accounted for Bright by 10 goals.
The match was even early but slowly the Lions got on top and extended the lead at every change.
Cindy Chalmers and Natalie Marek-Rhodes were great for the winners while Rebecca Crawley was Bright's best player.
In the other matches, King Valley defeated Benalla in a hard fought clash by five goals while Milawa demolished Bonnie Doon by 73 goals.
