TARRAWINGEE'S 103-point hiding from Milawa on Sunday has been further soured with news full back Craig Kerlin will miss more than a month with a broken hand.
Kerlin was set to play a key role down back for the Bulldogs but didn't even make it to the warm-up after breaking his hand in a freak accident.
The defender was watching the reserves match when he dropped his drink bottle and, in his attempt to catch it, hit his hand on the fence rail.
Kerlin was replaced in the line-up by Chris Penney but coach Finton Eames couldn't believe his luck after having to make a late change to his side for the second week in a row.
"I don't know if we are cursed," he said.
"But Craig's injury wasn't a great start to the day for us.
"It is broken so he'll miss about six weeks I think.
"He said it didn't feel right - Mick Wilson and Hayden Sharp were there and their prognosis was that it wasn't very good either."
Kerlin's injury wasn't the only concern for the Bulldogs in the heavy loss with defenders Aaron Vihm (knee) and Kaz O'Keeffe (eye) also going down.
O'Keeffe returned to play the match out despite swelling, however, Eames said Vihm would remain in doubt for this Saturday's clash with Benalla.
"Vihmy was more a knee but he had some referred pain in his hamstring as well," Eames said.
"He'll get that checked out in the next couple of days so we'll have to wait and see.
"Kaz was playing with one eye after the incident but I don't think there is any damage so hopefully he'll be fine."
Eames, himself, remains at least a week away from returning from a hamstring problem, however, he said despite the injury problems, the Bulldogs were never in the contest against the Demons.
A six-goal first quarter set up the win for the Demons and Eames said it was the Bulldogs' worst performance for a number of years.
"I don't know what happened," he said.
"They came to play and we didn't it's that simple.
"We butchered the ball.
"Jack Stamp killed us, their midfield was good, their forwards were good and they defended well.
"They did everything right and we couldn't do anything right.
"Hopefully this is a good wake-up call for the boys."
