THERE was plenty of tension at the start of the game between Bonnie Doon seniors and rivals Bright on Saturday when the Dogs travelled afar to clash on Bright's home ground.
A good result was vital to both sides.
Judd Darby and Rick Milligan were busy as normal and Jacob Howes was strong at the ball.
Slowy but surely more of the ball was in Doon's back line and from there Bright were able to score.
Milligan, Chris Anderson and Ward, through sheer determination forced the ball forward enabling Hayden Floate to goal.
More hard work by Simon Powell and Jarrod Demarco saw Tom Webster goal.
Judd Darby's tenacity gave him a goal and that tenacity saw him repeat the dose.
Doon had weathered the storm with all the play now in their forward line.
At the first break Doon were 32 to Bright's 9.
Bright was not to lay down, kicking the first goal of the second quarter.
Alex Kellalea withstood the pressure, but more was demanded of the other back players.
Then against the trend through Demarco and Webster, Matt Stevenson goaled.
Wayne Lockhart and Poole were creating plenty of drive out of the back line, but Doon was having difficulty scoring.
After an armwrestle a turnover cost the Dogs a goal, but Judd Darby ran in for a steadier.
Loose play then allowed Bright to again grab the ascendency.
At the big break scores were close - Bonnie Doon 7.4 (46) to Bright 7.6 (48).
The third quarter was again a wrestle.
Neither side was giving an inch and neither side stood back.
