THE Greta community will have cups of tea and desserts for an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser, but it will be held during a special evening supper.
Local resident, Emma Keith, has organised the supper at Greta Football Club tomorrow evening and is already impressed with how the community has banded together to support each other in the fight against cancer.
The fundraising came about after she and her husband moved back to the area recently to support her husband's father in his battle with cancer.
"We basically wanted to raise some funds because it's so close to our hearts," she said.
Greta Football Club hosts a weekly dinner at the club each Thursday and club president, Dave Newth, said he was happy to incorporate the supper for a good cause.
"The support by local businesses has been really encouraging," Mrs Keith said.
She said the club has already sold about 100 raffle tickets on the back of big prizes including tickets to see Tom Burlinson at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre and tickets to horse racing events in Wangaratta.
A kayak, worth $593, has also been donated by RandV Aqualine Industries and will be auctioned on the night.
The supper will be held at the Greta Recreation Reserve from 6.30pm on Thursday with cost of a small donation to the Cancer Council to be involved.
