BRIGHT secured its fourth consecutive victory on Saturday with a big win over Goorambat and is likely to surge into the competition's top eight in the next two rounds with very winnable matches.
The Mountain Men haven't lost since round four and on Saturday inflicted a 78-point defeat to the Bats.
Nicholas Howden and Blaze Jordan were the stars for the winners, booting seven and six goals respectively, while Brad Nightingale and coach Ryan Kent also starred.
After crashing to 0-4 after the first four matches, the Mountain Men now sit 4-4 after eight rounds and face Tatong and Glenrowan in the next two matches.
Bright will head into both matches favorite to win and will move into the top eight should it secure the points in those games.
But it's form over the past four weeks has been exceptional and Saturday was no different.
With Kent and Steve Nightingale setting the tone early, the Mountain Men shot out to a 23-point lead at the first change before extending that margin to 37 at the main break.
But as has been the case with three of its four victories, the second half was where Bright really turned it on.
Howden and Jordan became the focal points in attack and didn't let their side down while Brad Nightingale and Daniel Wallace won plenty of the ball.
The Mountain Men added five goals in the third quarter to bury the match but piled on eight goals in the final quarter to ensure their percentage received another much needed boost.
Meanwhile, North Wangaratta remains on top of the ladder but only on percentage after suffering its first loss of the season on Saturday.
The Hawks, who were without assistant coach Jamie Bell, fought out a class with King Valley at Whitfield but fell nine points short.
Roos coach Jono Rea was simply brilliant for the home side with four goals while Adam Williams, Matthew Glossop and Brett Sessions also starring.
David Steer was the Hawks' best while Mick Naish and Matthew Smith also worked hard for the Hawks.
In other games -
- Brad Bell kicked 12 goals as Greta hammered Tatong by 125 points,
- Tarrawingee defeated Glenrowan by 206 points,
- while Bonnie Doon beat Swanpool by 113 points.
