BRIGHT coach Ryan Kent is positive his side can continue its strong run of form deep into the season after the Mountain Men notched up a fourth consecutive victory at the weekend.
Sitting winless on the ladder after the first four rounds, Bright is now one of the in-form sides in the competition after a string of victories, culminating in a 78-point thumping of Goorambat on Saturday.
The side will go into clashes against Tatong and Glenrowan red-hot favorites when the competition resumes after the Queen's Birthday bye, before the draw toughens up in the back half of the season.
The first year coach will not accept any complacency going into the coming matches, but said the real test will transpire against outfits that will feature heavily in September action.
"Greta will be one of those sides we have to beat if we're serious about making finals, so it will be a good couple of weeks for us going into games against them, then King Valley and Tarra," Kent said.
"We need to beat at least one or two of those teams already in the eight to prove we are serious about making finals.
"If we are going to make it (finals) with the draw we've got, we're going to deserve to be there, which is good."
After a slow start out of the blocks against Swanpool in their last match, Kent put it to his players to show more hunger in the weekend's 21.13 (139) to 9.7 (61) thumping of the Bats.
"Having the week off and freshening up, the guys sort of started to realise where we're at with our footy," he said.
"We put a couple of things on the whiteboard before the game about our seriousness about our footy, and making a concerted effort for four quarters and we did that."
The inclusion of 18-year olds Jack Fraser and Tom McDonagh has freed up Brad Nightingale, who was dominant against Goorambat.
