WHOROULY coach Brendan Roche admits having century goal kickers Richie Leahy and Daniel West together in the forward line will be a luxury when the latter makes his return in the coming weeks.
West, who kicked 100 goals in 2010, played his first competitive match in the Lions' reserves match against Tatong on Saturday since undergoing a knee reconstruction late last season.
Despite missing so much of the 2011 season West didn't take long to find his range and booted three goals in just over two quarters.
The man himself wasn't about to get carried away with his return performance but admitted it was good to be finally back on the park.
"It was a pretty low-key return," he said.
"The knee felt pretty good and I didn't feel anything.
"I didn't expect too much it was just about getting my hands on the ball rather than kicking goals."
West initially had planned to return earlier this season but was ruled out until the weekend after undergoing minor surgery on his knee at Easter.
But since then he has completed a perfect rehabilitation program and admitted he could have returned to the playing field a couple of weeks ago but instead chose to lift his intensity on the training track.
