Leahy missed the Lions' qualifying final loss to North Wangaratta last week with what he described as a "bruised heel", but the rumor mill was working overtime, with suggestions the league's goal kicking champion had torn his hamstring, meaning he would certainly have to sit out against the Bulldogs as well.
Leahy not only took his place against Tarrawingee, but turned in one of the most impressive goal kicking displays seen in a finals match in recent years.
Well held by Bulldogs defender Joel O'Keeffe in the first half, with Brendan Cairns helping out, Leahy broke the shackles after the long break, booting four goals in the third term and two in the last to guide Whorouly into the preliminary finals with a 23-point win.
