Spotlights from The Shadows #5 Glenn Balmforth
The Shadow continues his series of player profiling when he tracked down St Pauls champion do gooder Glenny Balmforth.
The venue was coffee in Ackland St as Glenno took a break from his volunteer work of dishing out soup to the homeless at the Sacred Heart Mission
TS - So, Glenno, your job of Community Co-ordinator at the Melbourne Footy Club, wha...t does that entail?
GB - Well Shadow I actually altered the role since I started... I am now the Altruism Co-ordinator
TS - What the hell is that?
GB - Its simply the principle and practice of concern for the welfare of others...
TS - Shit Glenno, how come your such a great bloke?
GB - I wouldn't go that far Shadow but I guess I was just pretty lucky growing up with my Mum and Pop. Yeah, Teresa and Don did a pretty good job raising me
TS - So go figure, you have a Mother Teresa... And your Pop, Don?
GB - Yeah old Pop Don, Don Bradman, my full name is actually Glenn Bradman Balmforth
TS - So your telling me your Pop was 'The Don'... can I ask you is he any good?
GBB - Yeah top old fella, no longer with us unfortunately.. died at 99.94 years of age
TS - Ok, lets talk footy... Captain of last years Ressie Premiers team, B&F winner... What are your goals for this season?
GBB - look as long as everyone is getting a kick, I'm happy
TS - Of course you are... do you have any bloody faults at all?
GBB - Well yeah, I cant straighten my left arm...
TS - Next thing you'll be telling me is that your related to Muttiah Muralitharan
GBB - Do you know my cousin Murali?
TS - Alright Glenny, thats enough... Your making me sick
