Round 7 St Pauls V Dingley
SENIORS – Sponsored by Merkon Constructions
A 12 point victory against the hard running Dingoes was achieved on the back of a fabulous 4 quarter performance by Gilbo in the ruck. The big fella was everywhere and took 6 crucial last quarter marks to ensure the win. At ground level Cal Cathcart showed the crowd what all the hype was about with an exhilarating display of lateral agility as he slid through Dingley’s defence with 5 majors. The MAC brothers were also back to their best with T-Mac adding some extra steel to the last line where he & Kenny combined with devastating effect.
Reserves – Sponsored by Total Waste Management
The boys suffered their first defeat but will still take plenty of positives from the loss. To keep Dingley to 2 goals after quarter time was a great effort. Ben McCarthy was brilliant at CHB and got up as high as Leon McMahon on several occasions to spoil and mark. Browny’s form line is rising and his ability to run and break the lines time after time earned him a BOG. A last quarter 3 goal cameo from Jazza Blenkinsop almost got us over the line but we fell short by 5 points
Under 19’s - Sponsored by the Pearo’s Plumbing
The game was a close hard fought contest played in the right spirit on the back of the Dingley coach’s offer to play 17 a side which was much appreciated. Tall Timber Roberts highlighted his importance to the team taking 18 marks and doing it all over the ground. Connor Wilson was equally as impressive in the air whilst Whispers and Numbers had breakout games. The end was extremely disappointing and hard to accept but from the Coaches, the belief is still there.
Netballers - St Paul's V Mordialloc – Sponsored by Eva Rose Hair Salon (36-25)
The girls were eager for a win after only just beating Mordialloc by one point in the first round of the season. We gained the lead quickly and kept widening the gap to win by an impressive 11 points! Through the mid-court Sam Hunt (WD) and Amy Burns (C/WA) performed countless intercepts to keep possession. Eliza Barnes (WA/GA) agility is crucial allowing her to move down the court to feed the ball quickly into our goal circle whilst Meagan Taylor (GS) and Melissa Anderson (GA/GS) consistently work well together under the ring. Great work today St Paul's!
