SENIORS – Sponsored by Total Waste Management
With a few regulars missing the midfielders stepped up a gear. A-Mac was the best with 4 goals and plenty of possessions with Junior and Herby not far behind him. Up forward Nick Gilbert led and marked strongly and Kieran Knox regained some form. A number of East Malvern’s players ran into a ‘dead end Steet’ with Jay throwing himself into each contest with ferocity. His was a ‘thriller’ of a performance. Jak Wardley making his senior debut, showed signs that he is another player capable at this level and his hard edge attack on the footy didn’t go unnoticed.
RESERVES – Sponsored by the Cushion Lounge
East Malvern battled hard to contain the likes of Billy, Spanner and Shannon but a dislocated pinky was the only thing that could stop Tim ‘Bomber’ East (5 goals). Jai Marsden waS ace and his run along with Browny gave the forwards plenty of opportunities. The two James’ Taranto & Marasco were both lively again. The stakes are raised this week when we take on ladder leaders Dingley in the Match of the Day.
Under 19’s V Murrumbeena - Sponsored by Merkon Constructions
Whilst we lost the match, the effort was full of character and finishing with 15 fit players isn’t often a winning formula. Jaz Blenkinsop chalked up a season high 25 ‘Don’t Argues’ and his 2 goals and sustained running effort earned him BOG. Pauly Tolongs was sensational also in the midfield and his sure hands and clearance work kept us in the contest. Others to stand out for 4 quarters were Braggers, Gem, Beauy and Bobby Carracher.
Netballers (31) V StKilda City (33) - Sponsored by Eva Rose Hair Salon.
Windy conditions set the scene for today's match against St Kilda City. It was a fast paced game from the first siren to the last. Defenders Meg and Caitlin put the pressure on the opposition, which forced them to work the ball around the ring several times before attempting a shot. It gave us lots of opportunities to intercept the ball. Our attackers had a great run in the third quarter to even up the score, but the wind just didn't blow in our favour, missing out on the win by 2 points.
