Player Code of Conduct
1. Play by the rules.
2. Never argue with an official.
(a) If you disagree, have your captain or coach approach the official during the break or after the game. The alternative could lead to a penalty under the player code.
3. Control your temper
(a) Verbal or physical abuse of any person is not acceptable
(b) Obscene language or behavior is not acceptable to officials spectators or players and will not be tolerated under any circumstances
4. Work equally hard for yourself and your team
5. Treat all players as you would like to treated
6. Encourage and assist all players regardless of their skill level to be involved in the game.
7. Taunts or discriminatory comments based on race, religion, sexuality or gender will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
8. Cooperate with your coach, officials and teammates.
9. Ensure all injuries are treated promptly to give your self the best chance of recovery.
10. Win, loose or draw, treat your opponent with respect at the end of the game.
11. Treat the opposition’s facilities with respect and leave the rooms and grounds as you found them.
12. Conduct yourself at a high level of personal behavior on and off the field/court in such a manor so as not to bring your club or the game of Australian Rules or Netball into disrepute.
13. Be willing to be involved in local football/netball development and promotional activities.
14. Develop a respect for the league in which you compete, your club, your teammates, and your opponent.
The Deniliquin Rovers Football and Netball Club does not condone on or off field acts of violence, or any other behavior which may harm the reputation of our club and football or netball code.
Parents and Spectators of Junior Players Code of Conduct
- Encourage children to participate if they are interested. However, if a child is not willing please do not force them.
- Focus upon the child’s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists the child in setting realistic goals related to their ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.
- Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
- Encourage your child to always play by the rules.
- Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or loosing a competition.
- Remember your child should be involved in football or netball for their enjoyment, not yours.
- Remember you child learns best by example. Applaud good play by both your team and by members of the opposing team.
- If you disagree with an official or umpire raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the official’s judgment and honesty in public. Remember most officials give their time and effort for your child’s involvement.
- Support all efforts to remove all verbal and physical abuse from junior sporting activities.
- Recognise the value and the importance of volunteer coaches. They give their time and resources to provide recreational activities for your child and deserve your support.
- Support your club officials in maintaining the highest standard of behavior both on and off the field for the betterment of the club and family. Offer your assistance and support to the team that your child is playing for in so that every opportunity is being provided for the very best supervision and support. Your involvement will give yourself and your child far more satisfaction.
- Avoid the use derogatory language based on gender, religion, sexuality or race.
