Well, it’s hard to believe the 2025 season is upon us and we are about to have our first home game for the season. If you ask the players, it started 4 months ago when preseason started, and they have been busting to take the field and play a real win/loss game.
Not wanting to live in the past we all know 2024 was somewhat overshadowed because of an on-field incident that led to a spectator making an unacceptable derogatory comment to an opposition player. That one incident took on a life of its own via social media. With the derogatory comment to a person of colour this one incident tarnished Pearcedale’s reputation. You may say this was not fair on our club, players and other supporters, but ultimately it happened in our crowd, on our ground and reflects on us as a club. As a club we must stand strong and ensure moving forward we stamp out this form of behaviour in 2025 to ensure Pearcedale Football Netball Club becomes the powerhouse of the MPFNL and respected for both on field and off field behaviour.
The AFL’s Vilification and Discrimination PEEK Rule states:
No Person shall act towards or speak to any other person in a manner, or engage in any other conduct which threatens, disparages, vilifies or insults another person or group of persons on any basis, including but not limited to, a person’s race, religion, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation or gender identity.
We would ask you all to join us to help in stamping out poor behaviour at our Club and hold people to account where you see behaviour that does not meet the standards set out above.
Alternatively, please come and approach any of the executives and allow us to manage accordingly.
2025 is set to be a great year for PFNC and we cannot wait to see you all through theseason cheering on the DALES.
