After nine weeks on the road Goorambat had its first home game against the third placed Tarrawingee. Both teams fought it out in wet and muddy conditions that saw Tarrawingee come away with a 165 point victory. Glenn Burnell was clear best on ground as he worked hard through the middle to create opportunities to score. Dayne Webber Had a solid day at half back and as usual used the ball with precision. Tom Skilbeck Had a tough day at full back and did an adequate job while under the pump. Hayden Kelly continues a very consistent season on the wing and ran hard from start to finish. Ben Reaburn worked hard through the middle and up forward and was creative around the ground with his ball use and speed and Brett Stovell had a solid game in defence.
Reserves
The reserves had a hard day in the office, going down by 128 points. Utility James Webb was the best for The Bats and was involved in the play for most of the game. Onball pair Will Bodsworth and Scott Mcgill was great through the middle of the ground and found plenty of the ball. Nick McCallum found plenty of it and used his pace well. Sean McDonald worked hard in the ruck and provided a tall option around the ground and Johnny Pilot was excellent in defence in his first game for the season.
B Grade
Goorambat suffered their 2nd loss to the season going down to a composed Tarrawingee by 10 goals. Goorambat came out firing in the first half but were unable to maintain composure for the full 4 Quarters. The disappointing loss will no doubt have the girls firing for next week’s game ready to get back on the winners board. Best on Fiona Doig, Emily Rice and kyllee Edis.
B Reserve
After loosing a close game two weeks prior the girls were well rested and ready to take on Tarrawingee. From the first whistle the girls came out hard and strong. With the shooting combination of Kate Nolan and Nicole Button shooting accuracy was high and any rebounds that occurred they had them covered. The rotation of Danielle Lawrence, Melissa Mennen, Sally Swankie and Lauryn Blake proved to be dynamite, any loose ball was chased down and the girls were good with the quick rotation from attacking to defence. The defence duo of Nardia Stovell and Emma Warnock was unstoppable. The shooters were controlled and prevented from scoring any easy goals. Every girl kept their head held high and fought until they were spent. The end result being that Goorambat beat the undefeated Tarrawingee. Award winners Emma Warnock, Kate Nolan and Nicole Button.
